After twenty minute boat crossing you'll be welcomed on Mnemba, an entirely private island where your cares are cast of with your shoes, never to be worn in this barefoot paradise.
Selected by Conde Naste as one of the three most romantic ocean destinations in the world, the island shelters just ten "banda" cottages, hand-woven from traditional Zanzibarian palm-matting. Hidden in the dappled shade of Mnemba's tropical beach forest, each banda is completely secluded within its green habitat, spilling onto the soft coral sand beach. Each room, with ensuite bathroom and private verandah, is bathed in the romance of castaway tales, with nothing but woven palm-fronds underfoot and cooled by murmuring sea breezes and gossamer draperies of oyster-white cottons.
Pure unfetterd bliss is the allure of Mnemba, where dawn is greeted by the bubbling staccato song of doves and the distant smell of coconut bread baking in the woodstove.
With staff and guests as the only human inhabitants on the island, Mnemba offers a privacy and exclusivity unparalleled on the African coastline
